Can you upload AI music? Rules for 24 platforms and distributors

It depends where. Spotify accepts AI music; YouTube, TikTok and Meta ask you to label realistic AI content. Bandcamp, CD Baby and AWAL do not accept it. Most distributors accept it with limits: you own the rights, no voice clones, some stores excluded. Suno songs need a paid plan. Checked 15 October 2026.

AI disclosure: who asks you to label AI music

Disclosure works in two places. Platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Meta ask you to label realistic AI content when you post. For streaming, labels travel with the release from your distributor: Spotify shows optional AI credits, Apple Music uses AI Transparency Tags (reported as required from August 2026), and distributors such as DistroKid, LANDR, Symphonic and ONErpm ask about AI at upload. Deezer and TIDAL detect and tag AI music themselves.

Voice clones: the rule almost everyone shares

An AI voice that imitates a real artist is where the rules agree most. Spotify allows vocal impersonation only when the impersonated artist has authorised it. Bandcamp, CD Baby, Amuse, UnitedMasters, TIDAL, RouteNote, Symphonic and LANDR rule it out, and DistroKid and Ditto require permission. YouTube lets music partners request removal of AI music that mimics an artist's singing or rapping voice. Several distributors also reject AI covers.

Suno and Udio: who owns the song

Before any distributor question comes ownership. Suno gives commercial rights for songs made on Pro or Premier, kept after cancelling. Free-plan songs are non-commercial and owned by Suno, and subscribing later does not change that. Since 3 September 2026 downloads are capped at 20 a month on Pro and 60 on Premier. Udio turned off downloads after its Universal Music Group deal on 29 October 2025; songs downloaded before then, or in a 48-hour window in November 2025, are reported to stay under the old terms.

Where an AI track can actually go

A distributor accepting your AI song does not mean every store gets it. Amuse leaves out Qobuz, Meta and YouTube Content ID. LANDR lists Content ID, Meta, TikTok, Deezer, Lissen, Pandora and Tencent. RouteNote excludes content recognition services, Amazon and five Korean stores. Too Lost keeps AI out of Content ID and Meta Rights Manager. UnitedMasters sends no fully AI tracks to Facebook, Instagram or TikTok. Ditto lists stores that might reject fully AI releases, including Apple Music.
