A pre-save link is a page where fans sign up before a release so the track reaches them on day one. Stage pre-save pages are free with no time limit. Fans leave an email, the page flips to live streaming buttons on release day, and you keep the email list.
There are two kinds of pre-save. Stage uses the simple one, and this page explains the difference so you can choose with your eyes open.
How it works for the fan
- The fan opens your link before release. They see a countdown page with your cover, the title and the release date.
- They tap Remind me and leave an email address. No Spotify login is asked of the fan.
- On release day the same link flips to live buttons for every service you added, and Stage emails the fan that it is out.
How it works for you
Each email lands in your fan list with an optional name, where the fan clicked from, their device and an engagement score from 0 to 100. You can export the list at any time and email it from the Email Agent: Free covers 250 sends a month to fans you captured. More on that on the fan email page. Nothing changes on release day except the buttons, so the link you shared weeks ago keeps working.

Is pre-save on Spotify free?
Spotify does not charge for pre-saves. The tool you use might. Stage Free includes pre-save with no time limit.
Where do I find my pre-save link?
In Stage it is the link you publish for the release, shown in the Smart Link builder. If you use a distributor's pre-save tool, look in that dashboard under the release.
Does pre-save help the Spotify algorithm?
