Hypeddit is a music marketing platform built around the download gate: a fan follows you, likes or reposts a track, and in return gets a free download. It also offers smart links, pre-saves, fan email collection and paid ad tools. Stage is a release toolkit for independent artists that puts a Smart Link with pre-save, fan email capture, a press kit builder and an AI manager in one account.
The two overlap on smart links, pre-saves, email and, on Stage Pro, a simple unlock gate. They differ on almost everything else, which makes this an easier comparison than most. We build Stage. The Hypeddit facts below come from its own pricing page and homepage, checked on 4 October 2026; where Hypeddit's pages do not say something, the table says "not listed".
Who this is for
Producers and DJs who grew up on SoundCloud gates and are wondering whether a gate tool is still the right home for a release. Artists who already pay Hypeddit and want to know what they would give up, and get, by switching. Anyone who searched "hypeddit alternative" and found only Reddit threads.

What Hypeddit is built around
Hypeddit's product list, from its own pricing page, runs: smart links, download gates, link gates, pre-saves, "Lifetime Fans", AI-powered music ads, fan email collection and charts. The order is not accidental. The gate is the heart of it. A fan lands on your page, completes an action (a like, repost, comment or follow on SoundCloud, Spotify, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms), and gets the file. Pre-saves, fan email collection and custom domains start on the Basic tier, and the AI ad tools and fan analytics start on Pro.
It is big. Similarweb put hypeddit.com at 2.7 million visits in the three months to August 2026 and global rank around 22,100, far ahead of every other smart link tool we have measured. The homepage claims "100,000+ Happy Artists & Bands", and its Trustpilot profile had 539 reviews with a 4.7 TrustScore on 4 October 2026. A lot of the traffic is the Top 100 charts and the new-releases pages, which are built from user-submitted tracks, so a gate on Hypeddit also puts your track somewhere people browse.
On price, the homepage headline is paid plans "starting at $14/month", which is Basic billed monthly. Billed annually it is $9 a month, $108 a year. Pro is $13 a month annually ($156 a year) or $29 month to month; Hypeddit's founder gives the same two Pro figures in a Trustpilot reply. Elite is $99 a month annually ($1,188) or $149 monthly. One caution: the annual totals are charged up front, so look at the billing toggle before you enter a card.
What Stage is built around
Stage starts from what you own after the release. A follow gate gives you a follow on someone else's platform. A pre-save with an email address gives you a fan you can reach next time.
Everything on the Free plan has no time limit. You get unlimited Smart Links with fan email capture on every one, pre-save, the full EPK builder with every template, Playlist Fit, 250 email sends a month to the fans you captured, a streaming dashboard refreshed about once a day, and 15 HANI credits a month. Free links and EPKs carry a "Stage by Groove Gainer" brandmark. They do not carry ads.
Pro at $9.99 a month, or $99.99 a year, removes the brandmark per link, opens the full 145-template Smart Link library, turns on the complete analytics set including QR-code source and best time to share, exports the EPK to PDF and HTML, adds the reward gate, raises email to 5,000 sends a month with CSV import, and gives HANI 30 credits a day. The first payment has a 14-day money-back guarantee.
The reward gate is Stage's version of an unlock page, and it is simpler than Hypeddit's. You pick an email gate, a follow gate or both, write the headline and paste a reward link (a download, a private page, anything with a URL). The email gate adds the fan to your list. The follow gate shows a follow button for any profile URL you paste (Spotify, Instagram, SoundCloud) and then unlocks; it runs on the honor system, because Stage cannot verify that the follow happened. Hypeddit's gates are built around platform actions; Stage's is built around the email.
Manager at $39.99 raises email to 25,000 sends a month and HANI to 75 credits a day. Multi-artist roster and team seats are in development, not shipped.
Pre-save on Stage is the "remind me" kind. The fan leaves an email, and on release day the page flips from countdown to live buttons and the fan gets the email. It does not write to the fan's Spotify library through OAuth. We chose that on purpose; the email is the thing that outlasts the release. The pre-save guide covers how each kind works and the music smart links guide covers the rest of a release page.
HANI, the AI manager, runs on Anthropic's Claude through the commercial API. Your data is not used for training. It reads your own numbers and links and answers planning questions; a standard question is 1 credit, a specialist or web-search question is 3. It is not an ad product and does not run campaigns for you.
What Stage does not have: paid ad tools, a custom domain (the feature exists in the interface but is hidden until the backend ships), anything like Hypeddit's charts, and a verified follow gate. We are also the smaller product by a wide margin.
When Hypeddit is the better pick
You give away downloads for platform actions. If your model is free downloads for likes, reposts and follows, Hypeddit is the tool built around it, and its gates come free on Rookie. Stage's gate is Pro only and cannot confirm that a follow happened.
You want to buy ads from inside the link tool. Hypeddit's AI-powered ads start on Pro. Stage has no ad product and will not run your campaigns. If you are deciding whether to run ads at all, read music promotion budget tiers.
You want the charts. A gated track on Hypeddit can appear in its Top 100 and new-releases pages, which get real traffic. Stage has nothing equivalent.
You are a DJ or producer whose audience lives on SoundCloud. Hypeddit's gate types grew up there: likes, reposts, comments and follows. Stage supports SoundCloud as a Smart Link destination, and its follow gate can point at a SoundCloud profile, but only on the honor system.
You need a custom domain. Hypeddit lists custom URLs and domain from Basic. Stage does not offer one yet.
You want to be where 100,000 other artists are. Hypeddit's community and scale are real, and Stage cannot match them today.
When Stage is the better pick
You want a press kit and a link from the same account. Hypeddit has no EPK. Stage's is free, with 116 templates and a hosted link; PDF and HTML export are Pro. Try the free EPK template and see EPK examples that get booked.
You want to email your fans from the tool, at a known monthly limit. Stage states its send caps on the pricing page: 250, 5,000 and 25,000 a month by plan. Tactics for the list are in email marketing for musicians.
You want pre-save and email capture without paying. On Hypeddit both start on Basic. On Stage both are in the Free plan, with no time limit.
You want planning help, not ad spend. HANI answers questions about your own data for 15 credits a month on Free.
You want one plain monthly price. Stage is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, written the same way everywhere.
FAQ
How much does Hypeddit cost?
Hypeddit's pricing page lists Basic, Pro and Elite plus a free "Rookie" plan after the Pro trial. Basic is $9 a month billed annually ($108 a year) or $14 month to month; Pro $13 annually ($156) or $29 monthly; Elite $99 annually ($1,188) or $149 monthly. Pre-saves and fan email collection start on Basic, AI ads on Pro. Prices checked on 4 October 2026.
Is Hypeddit free?
There is a free Rookie plan after the Pro trial, with unlimited smart links and download gates. Pre-saves and fan email collection start on the paid Basic plan.
Does Stage have download gates?
Yes, on Pro. Stage's reward gate unlocks a download or any other reward link after an email, a follow or both. The email is added to your fan list; the follow runs on the honor system, because Stage cannot verify it. If your release plan depends on verified SoundCloud likes and reposts, Hypeddit is the better fit.
Is pre-save on Spotify free?
Spotify does not charge for pre-saves; the tool does. Stage Free includes pre-save with no time limit. On Hypeddit, unlimited pre-saves start on Basic. Spotify's own Countdown Pages also take pre-saves for eligible artists (at least 3,000 monthly active listeners, albums and EPs only).
Can I use both?
Yes, and some artists will: a Hypeddit gate for the free download and a Stage Smart Link as the release-day page that collects the email and links to the press kit. Nothing in either tool prevents it.
